“A Weekend in Bloom: Capturing Washington, DC’s Cherry Blossom Magic”
The Washington Capitol
Washington, DC in spring is unlike any other time of year. The streets come alive with color as cherry blossoms burst into bloom, drawing visitors from around the world. My weekend visit during the Cherry Blossom Festival was a chance to experience the parade, stroll through the Tidal Basin, and explore the city’s most iconic landmarks.

In the afternoon, I wandered along the Tidal Basin, where cherry blossoms framed the Jefferson Memorial and petals floated gently on the water. The soft light of the day made every scene feel like a painting.

Sunday morning began at the U.S. Capitol, a place that never fails to impress with its scale and beauty.

From the Capitol, I walked the length of the National Mall, taking in the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, and WWII Memorial. Each landmark stood as a reminder of the city’s history, framed by the fresh energy of spring.

As the sun began to set, the city glowed under a warm golden light. Petals swirled in the breeze, and the National Mall quieted as people slowly drifted home. It was the perfect ending to a weekend filled with beauty, history, and connection.
